A completed application plot plan (to include property lines, existing buildings and the proposed project). A copy of a current worker’s compensation insurance certificate or a notarized worker’s compensation exemption form. If a building code permit is required you may need to include an application and construction documentation. CCIS is the approved Third Party Agency to enforce The Uniform Construction Code (ACT 45) of Pennsylvania in Jackson Township.

Yes, except for a prefabricated swimming pool that is less than twenty-four inches deep. These are the requirements for a swimming pool permit application:

1. Submit Plot Plan (to include property lines and structures).

2. Construction Documents and Drawing of Pool

3. All pools will be inspected for electric and barrier requirements according to IRC 2006 Chapter 41 and Appendix G.

Yes, a permit is required for a fence. If the fence is over six feet in height it will need a building code inspection permit. Front yard fences may not be more than thirty inches tall in residential zoning districts.

Yes, if the driveway extends or to township road.  The fee is $10 and you may apply at the Township Office.  If the driveway extends onto a State Road, you must obtain a H.O.P. Permit from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  

Yes, a zoning permit is required to install a porch or deck.  A building code inspection permit is also required if the deck or porch is roofed and if the porch or deck is thirty inches above finished grade.

No, if the dimensions or framing or the original opening are not altered.

No, as long as you do not change the structural value of your home.

Zoning Permit = $20 + $2 for every $1,000 of Construction Value.

Building Permit (New Single Family Dwelling) = $0.25 for the first 2,500 square foot and $10 for each additional 100 square foot.

Additions, Garages over 1,000 square foot, decks and swimming pools will be charged $50 for each required inspection.

The zoning office is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.  You may stop in Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and complete or pick up an application.  Click here for a sample of the zoning permit application to understand what information is required.

No building or other structure shall be erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, converted, removed, added to, used or the use therein changed unless and until a building and zoning permit is obtained from the Zoning Administrator.  The permit requirements shall apply to all permanent, temporary, seasonal, part-time or movable buildings, structures, signs or uses, unless exempted elsewhere in Chapter 27 of our code.  No building and zoning permit shall be issued by the Zoning Administrator except in conformity.
